When she walked in
Oh, a day beautiful it was,
that fine morning of eight and three,
when the sun was bright, a day loud,
Promise in the air and a mind free,
immersed in that happy crowd,
Carefree in all the melee,
Smiles flowing, hearts glowing,
Bunch of jolly kids were we!
Nary a care for what to come,
In the midst of it all I stood,
trying to find my ground in stead,
Till the flash that would uproot,
What a sight to behold,
Blessed be me for to be,
Able to lay eyes on this maid,
Is all my soul longed to see!
In she walked, all grace and free,
On to my sight, in to my heart,
The crowd melting away from me,
Like alone I jumped with a start!
A rasp in the air for all could see,
Although I felt it was just we,
She and I as if bound in a flash,
Into some insane divinity!
Who'd think, with years to pass,
decades of life rolling on and forth,
Paths so many, traversed and strong,
Wisdom earned and yet lack worth?
"All changes" is what they say,
Foolish be he who knoweth not so;
Yet, years of tens couldn't take away,
The magic of the moment pure I know.
Wonder is the world bathed by the Sun,
For all that changes for sure with time,
There is but this feeling of being one,
Of singing the same verses in rhyme,
That never did waver, staying all true,
No matter how apart, unknown unsaid,
Long five and a thirty, years did ensue,
Before I could say I love you!
